About the Cult
After a month of girly goodness (in which nobody wrote anything) let's get back down to the business of honoring the forces of evil.

I've been a member for a couple of months, but haven't posted anything yet. I guess I just wanted to say hi and reach out to some of the other crafters in the area. My name is Melissa and I make jewelry. I've lived in the Bay Area my whole life. :) I really like it here. What are your stories?

I was just writing up a new resume and thought to myself.... "Extracurricular activities, huh? Hmmm.... I know! East Bay Craft Cult!" So I thought I would take a peek and I see no one has written anything in here since January! Jeepers.
Anywho, since the last entry was about a fundraiser of sorts for the tsunami relief, is there anything like that for the victims in New Orleans?
Well I hope you are all busy and enjoying crafting!

attention crafty guys & gals!

A group of people here in Oakland are putting together a benefit event to raise money for Tsunami survivors, and we're looking for a little help! The event is a 'prom' of sorts- there will be bands (Oakland's Communique is slated to play) and dj's, full bar, a lounge area playing classic school-dance movies, a raffle (with prizes donated from The Gap, Lanesplitters, The Parkway Theater, etc..) and as well as a bake sale and craft sale.

I'll be heading up the Craft Sale portion of the evening and i'm looking for people to either come and sell items or send me items to sell for them (with part of the proceeds going towards the cause.) A couple of local crafters are slated to bring their items, but i'd love to have a full table!

Textile items, paper crafts, zines, cds, knit items, felt monsters and all manner of handmade crafts are welcome! Local crafters, this is a great chance to come and showcase your items. if you're interested, leave me a comment or shoot me an email at ch @ grassfire.nu! Also, please feel free to link to and repost this message.

I am so excited to find this community!! hi, my name is heather and I am crafty and new to the east bay (moved here in july from western massachusetts). I have been making things for years, no pictures of anything to post right now though because I've been very lazy lately. shame on me! anyway, today I wandered into the craft mini-mart (totally awesome!!!) then came home and did a google search for it and then found this community. yay! oh and my craft of obsession right now is cross stitch. I'm happy that fall is coming though too... time to start knitting scarves.

I know you all think I am too retarded to post pictures (and I think I may have posted my subject, like, 10 times so you would be close to right) but here are the cutey pie pins I made:

That is supposed to be a trumpet sounding like victory! I figured out how to post again!
I have made a couple pins that I will try to sneak in to the minimart. they are so goddam cute, maybe I will post a picture eventually.
I made one of them a bobby pin and wore it yesterday to try out its hardiness. But then it fell out of my hair (probably when pulling on or off my sweater) and it is lost. I don't think I am allowed to wear bobby pins anymore, they just slip right out.

Hello ladies. Im Bridget, 20, live in the eastbay. I was sooo happy when I was told about this community. Marie, from The Mini Mart told me to join, so here I am. I have some pictures of my work. I have been making purses and pins for a couple years now, occasionally selling them on various lj communities. I havent worked up the courage to start selling them around the area. Anyhow, I am so happy that I can start networking with all the other crafty girls in the East Bay!!!

Hey, Ajna, Stacey mentioned last night that you read Orson Scott Card and I was wondering whether you'd read the Alvin Maker series. AND, if you had, what you thought of the very last book: The Crystal City.

I haven't read it yet, but it gets some pretty terrible reviews. But then, I wanna know what happens!
